Spre deosebire de celelalte Operační systémy Windows, ultima creatie Microsoft va beneficia de o mai mare flexibilitate pokud jde o Funkce Windows. Multe aplicatii “built-in” (adica “fixate” in sistem) vor putea fi odinstalované. Pe sistemul “daca nu iti folosesc, macar sa nu te mai impiedici de ele”, ramane la latitudinea userului daca Internet Explorer 8, Windows Media Player a Media Center nebo Vyhledávání Windows (si altele) vor mai popula Programové soubory-ul sau nu.
