Dupa ce s-au invartit mai multe rygter in jurul datei la care va fi gata Windows 7 RTM (ready to manufacturing), aceasta a fost anuntata oficial ca fiind 13 iulie 2009.
Windows 7 RTM build will be chosen over the next few days and will be officially signed off on July 13th, 2009, the same day as the WPC09 (Worldwide Partner Conference) will take place in New Orleans.
Microsoft is still in the process of testing and choosing from the RTM candidate builds as they need to ensure that all show-stopper bugs present in the OS have been eradicated to ensure as much of a smooth, bug-free release as possible.

RTM-ul este versiunea finala, adica versiunea pe care o vor primi pentru OEM-urile si alti furnizori/fabricanti pentru a o testa si pentru a putea rezolva eventualele Softwarefejl care ar putea aparea in compatibilitatea cu anumite hardware -komponent men computerelor. Abia dupa aceste mici retusuri va deveni Windows 7 GA (general availability), cea care va fi lansata pe data de 22. oktober 2009.
