If you are the only user of a PC, probably the account you will log in to the system is not password protected. But if other users, more or less curious, still have access to that PC, is recommended to hire a bodyguard or buy a safe for this account. Although it would be simpler (and cheaper) to protect it with a password. However, if you opt for the last option, there is a risk of forgetting the password. That's why we thought of extending a helping hand to those in such a situation, showing them how they can log on XP without digging (literally) for the lost password.
On each system it is installed on, Windows XP creates default a named account Administrator. Care, tot default, not activated. That's why, to access this account, you have to boot into Windows Safe Mode (restart->F8->Start Windows in Safe Mode). If the default settings of the system were not modified, the Administrator user will not be under the strict protection of any password.

After logging in as Administrator, go to User Settings control panel, where you can change passwords to all users on the system. As tempting as it is, stick to yours :P
After changing the password, remained PC and let it boot normally. Then log in with your user using the new one password set.
