La fel ca si Windows 7, Windows 8 does not allow installation of fear custom (third-party) in mod implicit, insa acestea pot fi instalate daca mai inainte sunt patch-uite SOME system files. Pentru ca Changing system files poate fi destul de risk, nu se recomanda patch-uirea manuala a acestora, mai ales in cazul utilizatorilor incepatori, insa acest lucru poate fi rezolvat rapid si cu riscuri minime prin intermediul utilitatii UltraUXThemePatcher pentru Windows 8.
UltraUXThemePatcher It's a tool gratuit, cu ajutorul caruia utilizatorii Windows 8 pot instala teme third-party pe sistemele din dotare. Aplicatia identifica automat Windows version si patch-uieste fisierele de sistem necesare (uxtheme.dll, themeui.dll and uxinit.dll) pentru a face posibila instalarea temelor custom.
De asemenea, este creat si un back-up al fisierelor de sistem originale pentru ca acestea sa poata fi restaurate daca va fi cazul.
