With the apparatus Microsoft Office 2007, a new termination / extension for files has been introduced “document“, Office Word 2007.
.DOCX , represents the replacement of the extension .DOC , from Office Word 2003 , both displaying a document file.
A document file, saved with extension .docx, cannot be viewed with Office Word 2003 or another older version of Word, unless it is converted to a .doc file. On the net there are many sites that offer this conversion service (from .docx in .doc) online, except that this method is not very fast and very safe. Basically, you send a .doc file (which may contain private / confidential data) to an uncertain destination.

Microsoft Office Compatibility Pack , is an update that settles over Office 2003 (or over an older version of office) and helps to view .Docx files.
All you have to do is download and install Compatibility Pack-ul.

In addition to the MS Office 2007 files, Office Compatibility Pack, it also allows the opening of files Excel and PowerPoint 2007, on the versions of MS Office older than 2007.
Installation Office Compatibility Pack :
After you have downloaded “Office Compatibility Pack“, in the computer a file with the name will be found “FileFormatConverters.exe“. Give double-click on it and in the window that will open, Check the box from the right “Click here to accept the Microsoft Software License Terms” , then click on the button “Continue“.
Wait for a few moments, until a box appears on the screen where you write “The installation is complete“. Click “OK” and ready. Now you can open the .docx and .docm files, with other MS Office checks, older than 2007.
