Firefox 59 (Quantum) – HTTP Connection is Not Secure

After the version is launched Quantum, Firefox is starting to slowly but surely regain the ground lost to Google Chrome and other Internet browser applications, to which users have migrated in recent years. About Firefox Quantum we can only say that it is a perfect browser at the present time, which offers a superior loading speed compared to any other browser, stability and good process management, both on Windows as well as on macOS.

Firefox Quantum promises to be a browser of the future that tries to align both users and website owners to the new web standards. One of the new standards requires websites to ensure the protection of users' private data, by using HTTPS connections instead of the old HTTP protocol. Broadly speaking, HTTPS ensures the encryption of data on the Internet, sent by users to the website. In this way, the user is protected against espionage (spyware) and the manipulation of personal data by malicious third parties. It is one “must have” for online stores that ask for personal data or even credit or debit card data to make payments.

From January 2017 to the beginning of December, there was a 20% increase of the websites that have aligned with the new standards, and switched to the secure HTTPS connection. In our opinion, this is primarily due to the company Google which webmasters frequently ask to use HTTPS connections for own pages.
In principle, an SSL certificate required for an HTTPS connection can be purchased for a fee, but Google supports the projectLet’s Encrypt, (mark the The Linux Foundation) which can provide free SSL certificates.

Starting with 2018, the majority internet browserelor will bookmark the sitesnon-HTTPS as being unsafe, thus warning visitors that the data they will send to the site is not safe. And currently, Google Chrome and other browsers mark non-HTTPS web pages that contain fields for e-mail addresses, parole or other sensitive data.

Of course, we cannot say that a website that is secured by HTTPS is also 100% safe. In an era of technology in which cyber attacks occur every second, HTTPS is only a small pillar against them.

Once the final version of the Firefox 59 (Quantum) to the general public, absolutely all HTTP web pages will be marked as insecure. It is very possible that this modification will also appear in Chrome in the near future.

The impact on non-HTTPS websites will be reflected in a lower number of visitors and the reluctance of users to order products online. Valid for online stores.

Passionate about technology, I write with pleasure on stealthsetts.com starting with 2006. I have a rich experience in operating systems: Macos, Windows and Linux, but also in programming languages and blogging platforms (WordPress) and for online stores (WooCommerce, Magento, Presashop).
