The company announced today that it has launched in “preview” for the public (beta), a new feature of Data encryption,Double Key Encryption, for users ofMicrosoft 365.
If the majority encryption solutions They are designed to protect the cloud data of companies and individuals from computer attacks, Double Key Encryption is a solution of Double data encryption Extremely sensitive, through which users can keep their data in a high level of safety. This solution can be used by government institutions, companies with regulations in terms of storage of sensitive data, Financial institutions (banks) and by Medical assistance.
How the new Double Key Encryption encryption system works
Are used Two encryption keys of data. A The unique encryption key will be to the user, and another unique encryption key will be stored safely in Microsoft Azure.
In order to access the data, both encryption keys will be needed. Both that of the user and the one stored in Microsoft Azure. Because Microsoft can access only one of these encryption keys, the sensitive data using Double Key Encryption can only be viewed by the user. Microsoft will not be able to access this data.
Why this security solution is needed is simple to understand. Microsoft is an American company, and some institutions, companies or medium -sided US where data is strictly secret character, they need to completely restrict access to the data stored in the cloud. The storage of commercial secrets, patents, financial algorithms or sensitive data of users can be regulated internally and require high security solutions. Double Key Encryption will satisfy these high security requirements.

Double Key Encryption will also be integrated into the Labeling System of User Groups AI Azure Information Protection. Separate encryption keys specific to each user and group can be created, following personalized access and permissions for each one.
The encryption keys can be administered directly from the Microsoft 365 account of the company.
