Recently at the tech summit “Connect” which took place in London, the boss of the Mobile division of Microsoft UK, Phil Moore stated that Windows 7 Mobile will be released in a second half of 2010:
It has been put back until late next year but it is definitely coming. You’re going to see a lot more on Windows Mobile 7. Giving the enterprise users and consumers what they want will be part of Windows Mobile 7. You’ll get flexibility on a much easier touch UI.

The key element of Windows Mobile 7 will be, according to what was declared by Microsoft a few months ago, the possibility of a quick access to social networks. The differences will be major, both in the case of the interface (optimization for the multi-touch system) as well as in the way of using the system functions by the user (the new Mobile OS will have implemented a type of "senses" that are less publicized, namely motion gestures).
According to what Moore said, Windows Mobile 7 will be Microsoft's attempt to advance iPhone-ul, although at its launch, Steve Ballmer - Microsoft CEO - laughingly declared that the iPhone is "the most expensive phone in the world”.
It’s true, Apple caught us all napping. It launched something that was very iconic, new and unseen with a very good user interface.
It remains to be seen which they will be Windows Mobile 7 performance considering that until its launch we still have to wait quite a long time and Microsoft refuses to give details about this project. But it was confirmed that a presentation of Windows Mobile 7 will take place at the next one MIX conference, which will take place in March 2010.
