Some time ago Google announced that it will modify the privacy policies regarding the storage and use of data regarding the history of user accesses. The American giant declares that in this way the results of users' searches (and not only) will be more accurate and detailed due to the combination of personal data collected from them, but especially due to storage of user access history. Through this much contested procedure, online advertising agencies will be able to deliver targeted advertising individually on the user's profile, thus having a much increased efficiency.

A simple way to limit the collection of user information until March 1, is to delete the search history on Google, so Google will collect information about this history only after this date. The steps required for this change are presented below.

Stage 1:

Access your account Google and click on the user link on the top right and select “Account Settings” according to the screenshot below.

Step 2 a:

In the new page that opens, access the services option and open it“View, enable or disable web history

Step 3 a:

In the new window you have several options. You can opt for selective deletion of the history of the last accesses by accessing the button Remove or through Remove all Web History you can delete the entire history, having the possibility later to reactivate this option if you think it is useful.

After these changes, Google will no longer be able to access your past history and will only record search accesses after the effective date of this controversial change to Google's rules. Google has also thought of users who do not have a Google account, as they are monitored with regard to Google searches based on the IP from which access is made and promises that this collected data will be deleted after a year and a half.

This move by Google was largely generated by the direct competitor Facebook who, through the way he built the famous and huge social network, collected users' personal information, created a real advantage in creating customer-targeted advertising products.
