Maximize PC performance – Defrag your System Files

Maximize PC performance by defragmenting system files on Windows.

It is recommended that, at least once every 6 months, let's go defrag the hard drive(s). or at least the partitions that look like this (although they have to be bothered with a lot of talent for such performances):

But Windows XP it doesn't allow everyone system files to be defragmented in the usual way, but certain ones are needed software-s to do this for files like registers or pagefiles. Sysinternals (Microsoft) have created an application, called PageDefrag, which runs after the boot sequence, defragmenting system files before they are locked (that is, before they are used by the operating system).

How PageDefrag works to Maximize PC performance

– after opening the application, you will notice a list of system files next to which it is displayed the number of fragments of which each is composed (a number greater than 1 is already a problem). Select the option Defragment at next boot (or Defragment every boot, although defragmentation of these system files is occasionally recommended).

– after the restart, PageDefrag offers you the option to cancel the defragmentation (hit any key within a few seconds). If you choose to continue, it will look something like this:

chkdsk

(please, not necessarily the same, considering that the "screenshot" was taken with the phone in the absence of knowledge of any method of taking a screenshot at chkdsk (Check Disk). If you know of such a method, apart from the one experienced by us, please leave a comment.)

If you opted for the defragmentation of system files at every boot of Windows and you also want to cancel this option, open the application and select Don’t defragment (uninstall).

Note that defragmentation of these system files it does not replace regular hard disk defragmentation, which we recommend at the beginning of this post.
