Anti-transomware protection and backup solution for Windows and Mac

About Acronis I mentioned in one article from 2013 when we recommend it as full backup solution For the operating system Windows. It ensures a complete backup, in the genre Time Machine from macOS, keeping system file image, a applications SI and personal files located on hard-disk.

Acronis True Image 2018, is the newest version of the software released by the company that produces it and is addressed to both Windows PC and macOS Mac customers.

In commercial version, the software brings a series of new features, including a very important one, taking into account the large number of Windows PC-s affected by ransomware virus.Active Protection Technology, is a security feature with the role of protecting users against attacks with ransomware encryption viruses.

This anti-ransomware security solution protectsAcronis True Image, the data from the backup and system sheets. It practically represents a antivirus dedicated to ransomware.

AccuracyActive Protection Technologyit is not 100% effective against this kind of attacks, but let's be honest, no antivirus solution is 100% safe. Acronis' protection module is set to run in the background and identify suspicious processes (malware) that try to encrypt data. If part of the data has already been encrypted before identificationActive Protection Technology, they can be restored very easily from the backup copy. Backup. The condition is to have a full backup of the whole thing hard-disk orSSD, again backup in timp real to be activated.

An interesting thing has to do with the management of infected files. If a ransomware was discovered on the system, Acronis True Image 2018 will open the interface where the backup files are stored, and in a list the suspicious ones are displayed as components of the virus. From here they can be removed very easily by the user. More to the point, it is very possible that before a virus is detected, its components reach the backup copy through the real-time backup function.

Backup software is very useful, especially if you work with important documents on a computer that has an Internet connection and is exposed to risks.

Acronis True Image 2018 can be downloaded from acronis.com, and o license in the premium version (the most advanced) costs about $100.

  1. This is a really great function, I have been using acronis for 5-6 years and I can say 100% that it is the best backup program, I have never had any problems.
I am currently emptying the 2016 version, but from this article it seems that the 2018 version comes with an extremely useful feature, at least in my case where I work with several thousand documents, a ransomware requires my resignation on the spot.
With acronis full backup every 1-2 months and my data is protected even if the computer catches fire, of course the backup is not saved on the same computer, external hdd and/or online.
Thank you stealthsettings for keeping us informed, especially the articles about security.
I wish you a wonderful day.

    • Yes, it really is an extremely useful solution. It would be good to see more developers of backup solutions, and companies and even home users to understand that data is not safe if it is stored on a single hdd :)

  2. The companies think they have understood this, or at least the vast majority of them, as for home users here, they still need a lot of time to understand this, and not because they don't have a mind, but simply out of disinterest, the vast majority go by the premise “it just won't happen to me”, but also when it happens…you have to shoot then.
I admit, I found myself in the above example and it took months until I recovered some of my lost data, I don't think there is better mental learning than this and now I'm blowing in the yogurt, as they say.
So, those who read this article do not listen to the saying “it just won't happen to me”, as long as, more recently, almost any device is connected to the Internet, you are guaranteed to be vulnerable.
    Let's hear only good.
