If you are wondering what they are major differences which they announced Microsoft the Windows 7 RC, you won't have much to wait. Now it's official: we will have Release Candidate on the date of May 5, 2009 (or even April 30 if you are a subscriber MSDN and TechNet).
There certainly has been a lot of discussion about Windows 7 in the last few weeks. A lot of folks want to know when they can get their hands on the official RC, when we are going to RTM, and what I had for breakfast.
I’m pleased to share that the RC is on track for April 30th for download by MSDN and TechNet subscribers. Broader, public availability will begin on May 5th.
As a kind of preview, a little transparency has been created regarding one of these differences: VXP (Virtual XP) will become XPM (XP Mode).
XP Mode consists of the Virtual PC-based virtual environment and a fully licensed copy of Windows XP with Service Pack 3 (SP3). It will be made available, for free, to users of Windows 7 Professional, Enterprise, and Ultimate editions via a download from the Microsoft web site.
Although it has a basis Virtual PC, XPM works quite differently from this: after installing it (similar to installing VXP), you will be able to use applications installed on XP and applications installed on 7 on the same desktop (compared to VXP, which for using some XP applications, such as IE6, was opening a second desktop, virtual). What's more, applications installed on XP will also appear in Windows 7 (with shortcuts in Start Menu).
Besides, there will be no more problem compatibility between the programs that run on different versions of of Windows (in the present case between Windows 7 and Windows XP).
We can tell him difference or we can tell him evolution (:P), but it is certain that nostalgics Windows XP (which from April 14 it was included among the old Windows operating systems; THAT IS he was retired) will be encouraged in this way to give it a chance (possibly more) the controversial 7.
