Microsoft extends the Windows XP support until July 14, 2015

Last week, when Microsoft announced that in 3 months they will withdraw support for MSE (Microsoft Security Essentials) for Windows XP, they all interpreted this announcement as another nail in the coffin of the aforementioned operating system. Well, it seems that things are not really that dark, considering that today, those from Microsoft they made another announcement on The official blog, namely the one that, although official support for Windows XP as an operating system will end on the date of April 8, 2014, he will continue to receive Security updates for PROGRAMS and antimalware signatures own until the date of July 14, 2015. It seems that this decision was taken to give the organizations a reasonable period in which to complete migrating from the Windows XP operating system to a newer one.

Another reason, something more plausible, which was the basis of the decision Microsoft of to extend support for Windows XP by one year, is that the respective operating system is still used on a very large scale, the company still underestimating the number of users who either don't want to, or can't give it up yet.

While Microsoft would certainly prefer that users stop using it Windows XP and buy one newer operating system, this news will be welcome for nostalgic users or, especially, for companies that will be able to postpone another year upgrading Windows on the computers provided.
