The Windows 8.1 support ends in May 2014!

For many this warning it might seem like a joke, and a bad one at that. Considering that Windows 8.1 was launched less than a year ago (October 17, 2013), again Microsoft announced that support for Windows 8 it will only end in 2018 (and extended support in 2023), end of support for Windows 8.1 in May 2014 (more precisely in just a few days) seems inconceivable. But unfortunately (at least for some users) it is true.

Desi end of support for Windows 8.1 is not announced in the mod official, Microsoft rush the users of this operating system to install Windows 8.1 Update up to the first one Patch Tuesday FROM May, the current year, announcing that after this date, those who have not yet installed the respective update, they will no longer receive system updates, including Security updates, these being considered inapplicable.

Windows_8.1

Starting patch Tuesday in May 2014 and beyond, if this Windows 8.1 Update is not installed on your computer, all future Windows Updates, including the Security patches will be considered as being not applicable to your system and NOT be offered to your computer.

Windows 8.1 Update comes with a package with a series of new features and System changes, and the vast majority of users have already installed this update to be able to benefit from it. But there are also users for whom installing the update it was until now unrealizable, even if Microsoft made changes both in the update package (KB2919355) as well as in the Windows Update client to solve the problem. Ending support for Windows 8.1 in May 2014 it will mean that users who could not install Windows 8.1 Update because of some fall who do not belong to them will remain with vulnerable systems because they won't get any more update Windows (regardless of whether they are critical or not).

Note: Windows 8 users who have not upgraded to Windows 8.1 will still receive system and security updates, even if they have not installed Windows 8.1 Update.
