BitLocker USB Drive Encryption & Decrypt USB Drive.
The encryption and password of a USB memory is very simple, following a few steps.
1. After connecting memory stick-to your PC, go to your computer > Select and click-right on memory drive, then click on Turn on BitLocker …
2. Select the box next to the right “Use a password to unlock the drive” Then enter the password your password chosen for access to Drive in the two boxes. Next.
3. In the next step you are provided with a code with which you can unlock the USB stick if you forget the password entered at the step above. BitLocker Recovery Key.
Click pe “Save the recovery key to a file” To save your password in a .txt file on your PC, or click on “Print the recovery key” To remove Bitloker Recovery Key to the printer.
After choosing one of the two rescue options of BitLocker Recovery Key Click Next.
4. At this step you are still asked if you are sure you want to encrypt the drive. The encryption time is directly proportional to the volume of the drive (USB flash in our case). Click “Start Encrypting“.
5. BitLocker Drive Encryption – Once the USB memory encryption process has started, you must wait until completion. You have the option of “break”, but this option does not stop the whole encryption process. Manage BitLocker
After you have encrypted and passworded USB stick right click on the drive in “Computer” and click on Manage BitLocker to have access to the Bitlocker option list.
BitLocker Drive Encryption Options
choice:
– Change your drive's unlock password.
– remove password for the encrypted drive. (Attention here… You can give up the encryption password only if you have another method of limiting access)
– add a smart card to unlock the drive. (The option that allows you to use a SD card or other USB stick to unlock access to the USB Drive – alternative to password)
– Save or Prince Recovery Kay Again (in case you lost the file or sheet on which the Recover Password are)
– Automatically unlock this drive on the computer. (No need to enhance your password every time you connect USB stick to your PC)
Decryption USB Drive ( Memory Stick or enternal HDD)
If we want to decrypt a USB stick with bitlocker we must follow a few very simple steps.
1. We go to Control Panel and we click on System and Security.
2. Click pe BitLocker Drive Encryption.
3. Click pe “Turn off BitLocker” and click on Decrypt Drive.
4. Wait until the Drive decryption process is completed.
It is very important that both during the encryption process and during the decryption do not disconnect the drive. Can lead to loss of stored data or even the destruction of the drive.
