How can we find drivers for Unknown Devices in Windows

Usually when we buy a PC or a new laptop, it or comes with a pre -installed operating system, or with a cd on which all are found Drivers for hardware components of the computer. Also, when we buy hardware components separately, they come up with the package with the right drivers. If the CDs with the system drivers are lost or we decide to install another operating system, we can download the necessary drivers on the sites PRODUCERS or we can use - at least in the case of operating systems WindowsUPDATE service (Windows Update) to download and install. But what do we do when we cannot identify manufacturers (Manufacturers) for certain hardware components and the system list them as being Unknown Devices and the update service is unable to find compatible drivers?

First of all, if you have a bond that not all the hardware components of your system have installed drivers, you can very simply check this by two methods

  • the first would be to tab msinfo32 in Run or in Search-ul FROM Start Menu you are with Enter. Then click on the plus (+) in front Components, then on Problem Devices. If you have unidentified hardware components, IDs They will be displayed in the right panel.
  • the second would be to click-right on Computer > Manage, then selctati Device Manager (I KNOW SOFT device manager in Run or Search-ul FROM Start Menu you are with Enter). Unidentified hardware components or for which no compatible drivers have been found by the UPDATE service will be displayed as Unknown Device(s) Or they will have a yellow sign in front. To identify their IDs click-right on them and select Properties, then click on the tab Details and select Device instance ID from the drop-down menu.

In the displayed ID there are two codes that represent Vendor ID and Device ID, codes with which you can identify compatible drivers with those hardware components. Vendor ID is the 4 -digit code (in some cases and letters) after PCIVEN_ (eg 1180), and Device ID is the code after Pcive_[vendorID]&DEV_ (for example 0843).

After we identify Vendor Id and Device ID, we can identify the manufacturer (or manufacturers) of hardware components going on the site PCI Database, http://www.pcidatabase.com/, then we can look for compatible drivers on the Internet.

Succes!

Note: This method may not give results every time. If you can find yourself in such a situation, give a direct search with the hardware component ID.
