Recently I was asked by an acquaintance if I know a program to help him convert audio files .flac in files .mp3. Given that the solution is within reach of all, in the form of some Applications Arhi-known and used intensively by most Windows users – namely Wimm-ul (for the first step) and iTunes (for step two) – And because they certainly are quite a few who prefer MP3 instead of flacs (most of Windows users do not have files .flac there are audio files) I thought to write the next tutorial to help those in the system of knowledge I mentioned above.
How to convert files. FLAC in files .mp3
First of all you have to downloadati you are install Winamp and iTunes. Then follow the two steps below:
1. convert .Flac files into .wav files using winamp
- Open Winamp and open Preferences (If you use the Modern Skin Click on Options and select Preferences from the menu; If you use the Classic Skin, use the key combination Ctrl+P), select Output (listed under Plug-ins) then select Nullsoft Disk Writer and click on Configure.
- Select the directory/folder in which the files will be saved .wav (Default folder will be in C:Users[user-name]Music, where [user-name] is your username's name) then click on OK and close the window of Preferences. In Winamp dati click pe Add Files Then browse to the folder where you have .Flac files, select them and click on Open, then hold click on the button Play. .Flac files will be converted into .wav files.
- Check if the files .wav I am in the folder chosen by you then go again in Preferences –>Output and select Nullsoft DirectSound Output (otherwise the files you want to listen to with Winamp will be converted to .wav).
2. Convert the .wav files to .mp3 files
open iTunes then open Properties (Edit->Properties). In the open window (General tab) click on Import Settings.
- in Import Settings Select MP3 Converter (under the menu Import Using) then choose the quality for the files .mp3 (it is recommended to choose Highest Quality 192 kbps or choose Custom and set them for 320 kbps – the highest quality).
- in the main iTunes window, click on File and select Add file to Library. Navigate to the folder containing the .wav files and select them all then click Open. Select again the .wav files in Library in iTunes, then right-click and select Create MP3 Version from the displayed menu. File .mp3 created will be stored in the folder C:Users[user-name]MusiciTunesiTunes MediaMusicArtistAlbum (where [User-Name] is your username's name)
Note: We recommend the deletion of .wav files after they have been converted into files .mp3, because they can occupy a large space on HDD (depending on the number and size of the files).
