Immediately after the launch Windows 8, many users of this operating system they failed to adapt to the major differences between it and its predecessor, Windows 7, and they preferred to use Third-Party applications in order to disable SOME feature-uri which, in their opinion, succeeded more in confusing than helping. In an attempt to please even the most demanding users, Microsoft made some adjustments in Windows 8.1 (update currently available in the variant Preview) based on the feedback received from them, adding a series of choice in system settings which allow the deactivation of some features such as App Switcher or Charms Bar (hot-corners), activation booting directly into the Desktop (without showing it first Start Screen-ul) or o Customize more flexible of the Start Screen. Some of the options mentioned above are available in PC Settings, but an easier method of accessing them is through Taskbar.

How can we disable hot-corners in Windows 8.1 Preview?
- Click-right on Taskbar and select Properties from the displayed menu
- in tab-ul Navigation, uncheck the options When I point to the upper-right corner, show the charms (to disable Charms bar) and When I click the upper-left corner, switch between my recent apps (to disable App Switcher)
- Then click on Apply and OK for the changes to have an effect.

Hot-corners can also be disabled from PC Settings > Corners & edges > Corner navigations.

How can we activate the display of the background on the Desktop as the background of the Start Screen?
In Windows 8.1, Start Screen-ul has more Customization options, users being able to choose from a wider variety of background-uri available for it, even being able to set it desktop background image ca background pentru Start Screen.

The easiest method to do this is all through Taskbar:
- Click-right on Taskbar and select Properties from the displayed menu
- in tab-ul Navigation, tick the option Show my desktop background on Start, then click on OK

Into Taskbar and Navigation Properties other options are also available, such as the one of bootare direct in Desktop or display Apps view when clicked on the start button (instead of displaying the Start Screen) or first listing of desktop applications in Apps view when they are sorted by category.
